Our History

Inland Imaging’s history dates back to 1937 when a predecessor practice called Spokane Diagnostic Radiology was formed. The entity that was to become Inland Imaging came into being in the 1970s as Inland Radiology PS and was at the cutting edge of introducing a number of new imaging technologies developed over about a 10-year period in the 1970s and 80s, such as Ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

On Jan. 1, 1998, Sacred Heart Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital (now both part of the Providence Health System), partnered with Inland Imaging Management Inc. to form Inland Imaging LLC to provide outpatient radiology services at free standing imaging centers around the Spokane area.

The partnership allowed the company to reduce duplication, use staffing more efficiently, accelerate the introduction of new services and technologies, and allow Inland’s radiologists to delve more deeply into subspecialty fields, such as pediatric, neurologic and interventional radiology. It also allowed Inland to expand out further into the rural hospital system in Eastern Washington and to start their own Nighthawk overnight reading service.

In 2001, Holy Family Hospital began a major construction project to create a new Emergency Department. The hospital approached Inland Imaging LLC to provide imaging services for its Emergency Department and in-Hospital patients. This allowed Inland Imaging LLC to consolidate multiple offices on the northside into one 30,000sf location on the Holy Family campus when the new Emergency Department and Imaging center opened in 2003.

Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital once again approached Inland Imaging Business Associates in 2014 looking for ways to improve the performance of its in-patient Imaging Department. The two organizations created an agreement that allows Inland Imaging Business Associates (IIBA) to provide Management services and technical and clerical staff within SHMC for the MRI, CT, Ultrasound and General Diagnostic departments.

Most recently, Inland Imaging has expanded its geographic scope by partnering with radiology groups in Missoula, Montana (2017) and Richland, Washington (Fall of 2018).

All this expansion allows and supports Inland Imaging’s core purpose of providing answers you can trust and care you can count on.
